HOW TO PROTECT YOUR PRODUCT WITH PAPER. THE 4 STEPS.
Protecting products with use of paper has been always an alternative to plastic. However, nowadays with the sustainability issue taking the first place in the business agenda, understanding how to protect your products with paper is a must. There are four ways that we are using paper to protect our products:
Surface protection: When it is applied on sensitive surfaces like furniture or tableware
Cushioning (shock-absorbing): When it is used in a form of a “pad” to wrap or secure items from getting damaged during shipment
Void filling: When it is placed in a box to fill the void and secure items from shifting and getting damaged
Tamper evidence: When it is used in a form of packaging tape that protects the content of a package from being tampered

In the following paragraphs we are providing further information per step:
PAPER FOR SURFACE PROTECTION
The latest solution for surface protection (and light cushioning) is a die-cut kraft paper combined with a tissue interleaf (called Geami). This solution is surpassing traditional wrapping solutions and it is offered as stand-alone in a paper dispenser, or in combination to a mechanical dispenser for higher capacities.
PAPER FOR CUSHIONING (SHOCK-ABSORBING)
For the paper to develop cushioning properties, it should be converted on demand by Ranpak’s PadPack machine. The result is a paper pad that provides tremendous shock absorbing capacity, for protection when a box is dropped during shipment.
PAPER FOR VOID FILLING
As in cushioning, for the paper to be used in void filling applications, it should be converted on demand by Ranpak’s FillPak machine. This provides an effective way to fill empty spaces in a box, preventing your products from shifting during transport.
PAPER FOR TAMPER EVIDENCE
Gummed tape protects the content of the packaging from being tampered by creating a bond between the adhesive and the corrugated. The adhesivity of the tape is activated using water that is provided by semi-automatic and automatic dispensers. Gummed tape is the only tape 100% recycled (both paper and adhesive).
All solutions for paper protection can be placed in a packaging station, in order to increase ergonomy and productivity.
