E-shop solutions? Amazon APASS

OVERVIEW

Amazon have announced, from 1st October 2019, that they will start charging its vendors approximately 1.7 euros per unit for items shipped that are not tested and certified under its new packaging program.

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

According to this program, Amazon’s suppliers are obligated to certify the packaging of all products sold on the Amazon platform, that are larger than 45.5 x 34 x 26.5 cm and 12.3 kg as:

• Tier 1 – FFP (Frustration Free Packaging)

• Tier 2 – SIOC (Ships in Own Container)

• Tier 3 – PFP) Prep-Free Packaging)

This will enable Amazon to reduce packaging usage, waste, and cost. Failure to comply will result in the above chargeback for the vendor.

WHY IS AMAZON IMPLEMENTING THE PROGRAM?

To drive down packaging and labor costs whilst also reducing the amount of packaging waste.
